Setting Up Ledger Live Desktop
Follow these steps to securely set up Ledger Live Desktop with your Ledger hardware wallet.
Step 1 — Download & Install
Download Ledger Live Desktop from the official Ledger website. Install the app for your operating system and open it.
Step 2 — Connect Your Ledger Device
Connect your Ledger Nano X, S, or S Plus using the supplied USB cable. Enter your device PIN to unlock it. Ledger Live will detect your device automatically.
Step 3 — Initialize Device
Follow the guided setup on Ledger Live. You can initialize a new device or restore from an existing recovery phrase. Never enter your recovery phrase on your computer.
Step 4 — Install Apps
Navigate to the Manager tab in Ledger Live to install cryptocurrency apps on your device. Each app corresponds to a specific coin or token and allows secure transaction signing.
Step 5 — Add Accounts
After installing apps, add accounts for each cryptocurrency. Ledger Live reads public keys from your device and synchronizes balances and transactions without exposing private keys.
Step 6 — Test Transactions
Perform a small test transaction to ensure the setup works correctly. Confirm all details on your Ledger device before confirming the transaction.
